HOPE UK SHEFFIELD
Introduction
Our local worker started developing drug education and life skills activities in Sheffield in 2019. Although this work was interrupted by the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, we have been able to develop work in local schools, youth organisations and with faith groups. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the work.

Hope UK Sheffield – a year in review
Andy Lawley, our local project worker in Sheffield, has been in post since 2019. Andy has worked to grow connections across the city of Sheffield, and the surrounding area, in schools and churches.
In the twelve months to the end of August 2023, Andy has completed 11 church talks, worked with five schools, delivered 13 sessions to young people and four to adults. The schools work involved working with 18 individual classes reaching in the region of 500 pupils.
Vaping has become very popular amongst school age children, with up to 18% of 15-year-olds self-reporting as current vapers and this has been the topic most often delivered in schools this year.
As well as teaching about drugs, sessions normally incorporate some life skill elements too, for example, peer resistance skills and decision making.
Andy has recruited one volunteer educator who will commence their training in October.
